Last night there was dancing in the streets
of Old Oakland, California at Broadway and Second,
Last night there was chanting:
Obama Obama Obama O-O-O Obama-Oakland--
Last night there was dancing in the streets:
body pressing against body, swaying to the beat
on an almost balmy Winter night,
dancers, knees bent, center of gravity to the Earth,
hearts shimmying to the sky,
a far cry from the marching from Selma
two score and four years ago,
a far cry.
