wind joined by moonlight
dances casting about
noctilucent clouds
of luminous white and shadow
I press hard against the earth
wondering if I might appear
in her billowing dream
as she does in mine
or if the echo of all the songbirds
now gone
will sound in the memories
of our childhood
remembering
remembering
like opal clouds
requires a luminous source
the confluence of air and light
is glorious and yet
what of stone rock boulder bone
something solid to ride with us
through the stillness?
even after all these years
most still gaze heavenward
for portents of their fate
and what of moisture
air and light?
noctilucent clouds luminous
under the moon
are enchanting
yet I want to be
the stone rock boulder bone
that might be found here
a millenia from now
nestled midst gentle sunlit hills--
